Jethro Tull Leader Rescues Moggies

This story is currently featured in Kittens USA 2003-2004™ Annual Publication. Reprinted with permission of author.

Ian Anderson has sold more than 60 million albums and performed more than 2,500 concerts in 40 countries, as a solo performer and as frontman for the Grammy-winning band Jethro Tull. Ian and the band began touring in 1968 and continue to typically perform 100 concerts per year.

Unknown to a large number of fans is that Ian is a highly accomplished cat fancier. Just recently, Ian posted a complete guide for first-time kitten guardians on the Official Jethro Tull Web site.

It all came about after a litter of five kittens was found under a garden log pile. No mum was found to care for the approximately 2-week-old orphans. Ian and his wife, Shona, took the litter in and decided to adopt them out once they became of age. In the meantime, the couple hand-fed the kittens, took them in for a vet checkup and supplied each one with an abundance of love and attention.

The idea for the kitten guide was born when Ian felt the necessity to educate everyone who has ever considered adopting a kitten, from how to care for an 8- to 10-week-old furball to what to expect in this new parenthood.

Your New Kitten: Advice for New Parents” is a complete and thorough quick reference guide, covering every aspect of adopting and raising kittens and proper kitten care.

Ian stresses the importance of a quality diet, the proper milk, deworming and introducing the newcomer to a home with existing pets. Next, you are guided through a number of detailed topics covering litter, litterboxes and litterbox training, food, vaccines, medical care, spaying/neutering and pet insurance.

We highly recommend a visit to “Your New Kitten: Advice for New Parents.” This online guide provides significant facts for new and seasoned cat guardians.

Also, be sure to check out Ian’s other link, “Wittering on About Cats,” a personal cat tale told by Ian about his lifelong adventures and memories growing up with cats and how they continue to have a great impact on his life today.
